Disk-to-Disk Backup
The ability to backup data to a network hard disk or removable disk. Example: You backup your NT Servers to tape each night. What happens if you have a crash at 2:00pm? You’ve lost approx. 6 hours of data. An alternative to this 6 hour window of data loss is to have a disk-to-disk backup run every 2 hours of your mission critical files to a disk path on the network. This is only the changed files since the last 2 hour backup, so it is FAST and we compress the backup so it takes VERY little storage. We recommend a combination of backup to tape and backup to disk for a more reliable backup strategy.

Speed
At a recent benchmark test at Microsoft. UltraBac backed up a 263GB SQL Server database @ 600GB an hour. The restore is when we really impressed them – 500GB an hour. UltraBac had the 263GB database fully restored in about 25 minutes! Other examples: DLT7000 will backup approx. 19.5GB an hour on a local server with UltraBac. SQL Server 7.0
UltraBac can backup SQL Server version 7.0. In addition, UltraBac can perform a table-level restore. You are no longer required to perform a complete restore of the database just to recover a single table. Click here for more details. EASE OF USE – UltraBac is rated year-in and year-out as the easiest to use backup software for Windows NT. You can rely on a non-systems person to recover with UltraBac’s NT Disaster Recovery Agent.

Command Line Backup & Restore
You are not required to use the UltraBac GUI to invoke a backup or restore. UltraBac can be initiated through the command line. REMOTE ADMINISTRATION & MESSAGING - UltraBac writes events to the NT Event Log with unique identifiers for errors, completions, etc. Your systems management software would capture these messages and send certain messages to certain individuals at the Corporation for review. In addition, we have EMAIL notification with both SMTP and MAPI. Another UltraBac feature: 15 minutes prior to the backup and UltraBac will check the tape drive. If UltraBac detects no media in the drive, an email is sent to you which warns you of the upcoming failed backup if someone does not put the media in the drive. You can remotely install updates, monitor backups, initiate run now backups, modify backup jobs and schedules, and much more.
