NetVault is an open tape format solution. While our competitors may restrict their software users to proprietary tape formats, NetVault is not tied to any particular storage device vendor.

As with hardware and operating systems, NetVault has the ability to support a wide range of media and devices. This built-in flexibility can result in major savings when replacing or upgrading existing equipment.

NetVault uses industry standard, non-proprietary formats. It supports both CPIO for UNIX and Microsoft Tape Formats (MTF) for NT. For easy data interchange and disaster recovery protection, NetVault produced tapes can be read by any UNIX or Windows NT based system supporting the standard.

In the event of a problem with the library, server hardware and/or applications, NetVault tapes can be restored to any machine, regardless of whether the NetVault application is present.
